How to Spend 24 Hours with a Bike Rental in Stockholm

It’s nearly impossible to visit the beautiful city of Stockholm without stopping by their oldest neighborhood, Gamla Stan. Filled with alleys paved in ancient cobblestone and some of the most iconic architecture in the city, it’s not only a worth while trip it’s also smack dab in the middle of the city, accessible by foot, bike, train or boat!

And what better way to explore Stockholm than by bike?? Gamla Stan Cykel not only has great taste as an official Sawako distributor, but they also offer Bike Rentals, making it a worthwhile trip for native Svensk and Turister alike! For 250 Kronar (about $32) You have 24 hours of access to one of the most stylishly bikable cities in the world.

Before you rent you’ll want to take your time walking around this iconic neighborhood. Stop for a Kaffe and a Semla bun at Café Schweizer in the central Brantingtorget square to gain energy for your bike ride, then mosey over to Gamla Stan Cykel’s stylish shop.

Once you’re equipped with your bike we recommend riding over to Djurgården, the land of museums. Whether you’re the type to explore the turn of the century Biological Museum to admire their 360º taxidermy panorama, or performing a holographic Karaoke set at the ABBA museum is more your thing, this neighborhood is a glorious mix of old architecture, interesting museums, and canal views. It also has a 10 km bike path around the circumference of the island, giving any cyclist amazing waterfront views of the city.

Next you’ll want to cycle to the hip neighborhood of Södermalm, where you will find affordable thrifting, small galleries, and nice bars. There’s plenty to shop and people to watch in this section of Stockholm!

When you return your bike to Gamla Stan Cykel we’re sure you’ll be tired and hungry. Make your way over to the beautiful restaurant Tradition located nearby to sample some classic Swedish dishes, including meatballs and lingonberries in a contemporary, classy, setting.

With accessible bike paths and plenty to do and see you’ll certainly enjoy your time in Stockholm. Just remember to bring your Sawako Ear Cozies if it’s winter!
